Project Spotlight: Extending Durability for Idaho Power’s Metal Handrails in New Plymouth

January 1, 2024

At Spray ’n Coat Painting, we recently partnered with Idaho Power on a project to ensure long-lasting protection for the metal handrails around their backup generator in New Plymouth. These handrails, exposed to Idaho’s changing seasons, needed more than a basic coat of paint—our aim was to provide a solution that could stand up to rust and weathering for years. The project’s focus? To keep Idaho Power’s site looking great and protected.

Here’s What We Did:

  • Thorough Preparation: We started by sanding down the metal handrails to remove the existing rust, an essential step to ensure the new finish would adhere properly and last.
  • High-Performance Priming: We applied a rust-resistant primer specially designed for outdoor metal surfaces to create a solid base.
  • Durable Topcoat Application: To seal it all in, we added two topcoats of a high-performance acrylic finish for extra durability, helping to resist weather and wear for 10-15 years.

Long-Lasting Results

With these extra preparation and protective measures, these handrails are set for many years of reliable use, making this a cost-effective, high-value solution for Idaho Power. At Spray ’n Coat Painting, we take pride in delivering top-quality commercial exterior painting that stands up to the elements and looks great over time.

Thank you to Idaho Power for trusting us with this project! From New Plymouth to Boise and across the Boise Metro area, we’re here to support businesses with reliable, long-lasting exterior painting solutions.
