We are an EPA-certified firm, but we are not a lead abatement company and do not perform full lead paint removal. Our role is to help homeowners repaint older homes responsibly with the right testing, setup, containment, cleanup, and painting process.

Our Lead-Safe Renovation, Repair, and Painting Process

Lead paint is not always obvious. A home may have newer paint on the surface while older lead-based coatings remain underneath, especially around siding, trim, windows, doors, fascia, and other painted exterior areas. Our process starts by confirming whether the home was built before 1978, providing the required lead hazard information, and testing the painted surfaces that may be disturbed during the project.



If lead paint is present, we adjust the work plan instead of treating the home like a standard repaint. This may include protective containment, caution tape, safe access planning, proper protective equipment, careful paint chip collection, and bagging debris for disposal. We do not sand lead-positive paint as part of our process. Once the necessary prep is complete, we repaint the approved surfaces using the right primers, coatings, and application methods for the home.

    No. Lead abatement is a separate service focused on permanently removing or eliminating lead hazards. Spray ’n Coat provides lead-safe renovation, repair, and painting services for pre-1978 homes, not full lead removal.

  • How do I know if my home may have lead paint?

    Homes built before 1978 are more likely to contain lead-based paint, even if newer paint has been applied over it. Testing is the best way to know whether lead-safe work practices are needed before repainting.

  • Can you repaint a house that has lead paint?

    Yes, many older homes with lead paint can still be repainted when the proper process is followed. The key is testing first, setting up the work area correctly, and using lead-safe prep and cleanup methods.

  • What happens if the lead test comes back positive?

A full exterior repaint in a fresh pastel green paired with crisp ultra-pure white trim gave this home a lively new look while still feeling timeless in the neighborhood. The Scope Complete exterior repaint with repairs and prep This project involved a full repaint of the siding, trim, fascia, soffits, gutters, downspouts, and doors. Before painting, our crew filled holes along the right side of the home where an old cable had been removed, reinstalled the dryer vent, and backrolled the entire bottom edge of the home for smooth, even coverage. The System Durable coatings and careful prep for lasting results We applied pastel green as the body color, matching the soffits, front door, garage doors, and man doors to keep a clean, consistent look. The window trim, fascia, and gutters were finished in ultra-pure white for a bright, modern contrast. To ensure proper adhesion, we also primed the factory-finished gutters before painting.
